Temporary Data Protection & Information Officer
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Temporary Data Protection & Information Officer. Reporting directly to the Board Secretariat & Compliance Manager and with a reporting line to the CEO, you will play a central role in ensuring compliance with data protection, Freedom of Information and Access to Information on the Environment legislation.
This is a highly responsible position within a public sector organisation, requiring strong knowledge of compliance frameworks and excellent stakeholder management skills.
Location: Citywest, Co. Dublin (Hybrid working model)Contract: Temporary role (end date expectancy is June 2026, however this is subject to change at any time)
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9am-5:15pm (5pm finish on Friday’s)
Salary: €31.62 per hour
Salary and Benefits:
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 9:00–17:15; Friday, 9:00–17:00.
Hybrid working: 3 days in the office (typically Tue–Thu), 2 days remote (Mon & Fri), subject to business needs.Travel: Occasional nationwide travel required to deliver training (with overnight stays). A vehicle and fuel card will be provided for work duties (to be returned to base daily).
Annual Leave: 30 days per annum pro-rata.
Key Responsibilities: Data Protection
Act as the point of contact for the Data Protection Commission and all data protection queries.Monitor compliance with GDPR and other legislation, ensuring policies and procedures remain current.
Oversee Data Protection Impact Assessments and maintain Records of Processing Activities.
Deliver the company’s Data Protection Strategy through to 2026.
Provide staff training, guidance and policy updates.
Ensure privacy controls and compliance with the Data Sharing and Governance Act 2019.
Information Governance
Manage and maintain the company’s FOI and AIE services, ensuring statutory compliance.Oversee Data Subject Access Requests and related registers.
Deliver compliance-related training and awareness across the organisation.
Keep public-facing compliance information up to date.
Secretariat Support
Support compliance committees and steering groups as required.Contribute to governance reporting and civil service data protection networks.
Essential Requirements:
A recognised third-level qualification (minimum NFQ Level 7 or equivalent).3+ years’ experience in a similar role.
In-depth knowledge of GDPR, Data Protection, FOI and AIE legislation.
Demonstrated experience in monitoring compliance and performance reporting.
Proven record of delivering compliance programmes and training at all levels.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong organisational ability with attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong IT literacy.
Full Category B driver’s licence (valid in Ireland) and willingness to travel nationwide as required.
Desirable Requirements:
A qualification in Compliance, Data Protection, Governance, Legal or Business.Experience within the compliance framework for State Agencies, including the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies.
