Job Description

James, Gráinne and Jonathan Dwyer of Muine Mor Farm, based in Borris in Ossory, Co. Laois, are currently seeking Dairy Farm Assistants for immediate start for their farm at Moneymore, Borris in Ossory, Co. Laois.

Key Responsibilities: Assisting with the daily milking routine and maintaining high standards of milk quality

Feeding, bedding, and general care of livestock
Feeding cows and maintaining clean, comfortable housing by managing waste effectively
Operating milking equipment and ensuring smooth, efficient milking routines
Carrying out regular maintenance and checks on farming and milking equipment to ensure proper function and hygiene standards
Implementing animal health programs to promote and maintain excellent herd health
Assisting with calving and calf rearing programs, working to achieve minimal losses and to ensure a steady supply of high-quality herd replacements
Supporting with seasonal tasks such as silage, calving, and herd management
Following farm health & safety guidelines at all times

Supporting farm practices that align with best practice environmental and sustainability guidelines

Requirements: Ability to competently carry out all tasks and responsibilities listed above

Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a Dairy Farm Assistant or similar role
Strong knowledge of dairy herd management and milking practices
Ability to operate farm machinery and equipment safely and effectively
A proactive approach to animal health and welfare
Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Flexibility to assist with seasonal work, including calving and silage periods

Annual remuneration: €34,000.00; Pay rate €16.77 per hour
Work Location: Muine Mor Farm, Moneymore, Borris in Ossory, Co. Laois

Number of hours work each week: 39
