An Operations Technology Manager oversees and maintains an organization's IT infrastructure to ensure its systems, networks, and software are efficient, secure, and available. Key responsibilities include managing IT staff, developing policies, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, planning technology upgrades, and aligning IT operations with business goals.
Key responsibilities
System oversight: Manage and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud services, and databases, to ensure smooth and efficient operation.Performance and security: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement security measures to protect against threats and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Team and project management: Lead and mentor IT operations staff, manage projects, and coordinate with other departments to support business objectives.
Policy and process development: Create and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to improve efficiency and productivity.Budget and vendor management: Manage the IT budget, and oversee relationships and contracts with technology vendors and service providers.
Strategic planning: Identify opportunities for process improvements and new technologies, and plan for future IT requirements to align with business goals.
Essential skills and qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field is typically required, with a master's degree in a business or technology-related field often preferred.
Experience: Proven experience in an IT department, often with a strong technical background and some management experience.Technical knowledge: Extensive knowledge of computer software, hardware, servers, and systems is necessary to lead the department effectively.
Leadership and communication: Strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members and other departments.
