My client, a leading main contractor based in Galway, is seeking an experienced and motivated Health & Safety Manager to lead and oversee health, safety, and environmental standards across a range of residential and commercial construction projects in the West of Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of Health & Safety across multiple active construction sites
  • Ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation, ISO 45001, and the company’s Integrated Management System
  • Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively
  • Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis, driving improvements where required
  • Champion continuous improvement of the QEHS management system across the organisation
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to site teams, supervisors, and project managers on best safety practices and legal obligations
  • Manage and coordinate safety training programmes and workforce certification requirements
  • Support project delivery teams in fulfilling their safety responsibilities and maintaining a positive safety culture
  • Report to senior leadership on safety performance, KPIs, compliance status, and strategic risk management

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction sector (managerial or senior officer level preferred)
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification (Diploma, Degree, or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of current Irish construction safety legislation and industry codes of practice
  • Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated management systems
  • Familiarity with digital safety platforms (e.g. Hammertech, Procore) is an advantage
  • Proven ability to lead audits, deliver training, and communicate effectively with site teams and senior management
  • Confident in liaising with the HSA and external regulatory bodies
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative in approach
  • Full clean Irish driving licence essential
