This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance.

Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.

Job Description

The role is based in a busy solicitors office. The participant will gain experience in assisting with reception duties for example answering telephones, dealing with client queries, transferring calls and taking detailed messages. The participant will assist with greeting clients and will learn how to prepare client consultation forms.

The participant will also gain experience in learning how to scan post to colleagues. The participant will gain experience in assisting with maintaining files and databases.

Role Description

This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.

This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.

There will be formal training on:

  • Legal Case Management computer system
  • Learning how to open electronic files
  • File documents electronically and prepare legal documents.

There will be informal guidance in relation to maintaining Microsoft Excel databases. There will informal training in relation to legal office practices for example writing documents away and filing systems.

The participant will receive informal training in the use of telephony system learning how to take a telephone message, transfer calls within the business and formulate emails to pass a message on to colleagues and partners. The participant will receive informal training in manual diary management, learning how to schedule appointments, take notes on clients requests and communicate schedule to the partners.
