This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance.Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Job Description
We are delighted to offer a hands-on work placement opportunity at Bistro18, a vibrant and well-established food business located in the heart of Ballinasloe. This placement is ideal for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is eager to gain real-world experience in the hospitality industry.
The successful participant will be immersed in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of Bistro18, gaining valuable insights and practical skills across multiple areas of the business.
Key Learning Areas Include:- Food Safety & Hygiene
- Preparation of food
- General cleaning of the kitchen
- Washing of pots and utensils
- Putting away deliveries & completing relevant documentation
- Customer Service
- Stock taking & ordering
- ? Teamwork and communication in a fast-paced environment
- ? Understanding of front-of-house and back-of-house operations
- ? Exposure to menu planning and seasonal food sourcing
- ? Basic barista training and beverage preparation
- ? Health & safety protocols and compliance standards
- ? Time management and multitasking under pressure
This placement offers a supportive learning environment, where participants will be mentored by experienced staff and encouraged to develop both professionally and personally.
Role Description
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.

Formal Training: Health & Safety
HACCPManual Handling
Informal Training: Customer service
Stock takingOrdering
General restaurant kitchen work.
Whilst we will follow a training plan through out your time with us, our experienced staff will also help share their on the job experience.- Sector:
