Psychologist – Child & Family Assessment Service

About the Service

A newly established private practice in Co. Wicklow is seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychologist to join its multidisciplinary team. The service provides specialist therapeutic and developmental assessments for children aged 2–12 years, with a focus on early intervention, neurodiversity-informed practice, and family-inclusive care.

About the Role

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a service from the ground up, helping shape assessment pathways and protocols. You will carry out comprehensive psychological assessments, provide feedback to families, and collaborate with other professionals to ensure holistic, child-centred support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct evidence-based psychological assessments, including cognitive, educational, and socio-emotional evaluations.
  • Utilise a range of standardised tools appropriate for children (e.g., WISC-V, WPPSI-IV, WIAT-III, BASC-3, Conners-4).
  • Prepare clear, well-structured assessment reports suitable for families, schools, and other professionals.
  • Provide sensitive, strengths-based feedback to parents and carers.
  • Liaise with other professionals (OTs, SLTs, educators, GPs) as required.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical pathways and service protocols during the start-up phase.
Essential Requirements
  • Doctoral level qualification in Psychology (Educational, Clinical, Counselling, or equivalent).
  • Chartered membership with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)
  • 1–2+ years’ post-qualification experience, ideally with children and families.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, neurodiversity, and evidence-based assessment approaches.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Garda Vetting (required prior to commencement).
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in private assessment services.
  • Familiarity with ASD, ADHD, and DCD diagnostic pathways.
  • Knowledge of the Irish education system and how psychological input supports access to learning.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary setting.
