Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Accredited training will be provided to support your career.The Caretaker/Groundskeeper is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep, safety, and presentation of the club grounds and facilities, ensuring pitches and buildings are match-ready and welcoming for members and visitors.
Core Responsibilities
Pitch & Grounds Maintenance
Cut and maintain playing surfaces (grass cutting, line marking)
Repair divots and worn goalmouth areas
Monitor pitch condition and report issues (drainage, damage, etc.)
Basic fertilising, seeding, and turf care
Ensure goalposts and nets are secure and safe
Prepare pitches for training and matches
Facilities & Buildings
Open and close clubhouse, gates, and dressing rooms as scheduled
General cleaning of dressing rooms, toilets, and common areas
Monitor heating, lighting, and water systems
Report or carry out minor repairs
Ensure bins are emptied and grounds kept tidy
Goal: Clean, functional, and secure facilities.
Security & AccessLock/unlock grounds at agreed times
Monitor for vandalism or damage
Ensure equipment and buildings are secured
Act as on-site contact when present
Goal: Protect club property and ensure safe access.
Match & Training SupportSet up pitches, flags, and goal nets
Ensure dressing rooms are ready
Check pitch safety before games
Assist referees/teams if required
Post-match tidy-up
Goal: Smooth running of club activities.
Equipment ManagementMaintain small machinery (mowers, strimmers, etc.)
Report faults or servicing needs
Manage stock of line paint, fuel, cleaning supplies
Store equipment safely
Health & Safety
Ensure grounds are free from hazards
Follow safe machinery practices
Report accidents or incidents
Comply with club and GAA safety policies
Use appropriate PPE
Volunteer coordination
Litter picking around perimeter
Car park supervision on match days
