We are looking for a skilled and passionate Head of Coffee and Training to lead our coffee program at The Buttery. This role combines hands-on barista excellence with responsibility for training and developing our entire coffee team.
You will be the driving force behind quality, consistency, and innovation — making sure every cup of coffee reflects our standards, while also building a culture of learning and growth across the team.
Minimum Requirements: 2–3 years’ experience as a senior barista, barista trainer, or coffee lead
Expert knowledge of specialty coffee, brewing techniques, latte art, and bar operationsProven experience in staff training, mentoring, or team leadership
Excellent communication, organisation, and people skills
Passionate about customer service and continuous improvement
Flexible, reliable, and calm under pressure
Availability to work early mornings, Sunday–Saturday
Main Areas of Responsibility: Coffee Quality and Innovation
Lead daily coffee operations and ensure consistent drink qualityMaintain and calibrate coffee equipment and grinders
Develop seasonal specials and keep the coffee offering exciting and on-trend
Work with management to review suppliers, beans, and blends
Training & Development: Design and deliver training for new and existing staff on coffee, service standards, and HACCP compliance
Mentor and support baristas in improving skills, confidence, and speed of serviceConduct refresher sessions to maintain consistency across the team
Create a positive training culture that motivates staff to take pride in their craft
Operational Leadership: Manage bar workflow during busy service periods
Monitor stock, conduct stock checks, and support ordering of coffee-related suppliesEnsure all Health & Safety and HACCP requirements are met
Collaborate with floor and kitchen management to ensure seamless service
