About Teac Tom
The Thomas Hayes Trust (Teac Tom) is a non-profit organisation providing free, accessible mental health support and suicide intervention services. We are committed to supporting young people and families in crisis and helping them build resilience and recovery.
Role Purpose
The Adolescent Therapist will provide therapeutic support to young people (typically aged 12–18) experiencing emotional distress, mental health difficulties, trauma, or suicidal ideation. The therapist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver client-centred, timely, and ethical interventions in line with Teac Tom’s values and clinical governance framework.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide one-to-one counselling or psychotherapy for adolescents referred to Teac
Tom
Maintain accurate, confidential client records in line with GDPR & clinical protocols
Participate in regular clinical supervision and team meetings
Support the delivery of Teac Tom’s community outreach, education & awareness
programmes (where appropriate)
Essential CriteriaMinimum Level 8 qualification in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Play Therapy, or
Psychology
Accredited (or working towards accreditation) with IACP, IAHIP, PSI, APPI, or
equivalent
Minimum 2 years of clinical experience working with adolescents
Demonstrated ability to build rapport with young clients and manage risk
appropriately
Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice
Garda Vetting clearance (required prior to commencing work)
Professional indemnity insurance
DesirableAdditional training in suicide prevention (e.g., ASIST, SafeTALK)
Experience working in a trauma-informed, community-based setting
Familiarity with CORE 10 or similar outcome measurement tools
Capacity to deliver group sessions, workshops, or psychoeducation when needed
