This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance.Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Job Description
The participant will train as a Workshop Assistant while on the placement and be a part of a team. The participant will gain practical experience and be trained in the following:
Assist in the workshop to complete their duties in a timely and efficient manner.
Train to be compliant with health and safety guidelines in the workshop and in the area outside.
Assist the team with obtaining necessary parts as required from the workshop store or through motor factors.
Assist in the general upkeep of the workshop as required to keep the environment safe and hazardous free.
Train and develop customer service skills including face to face and over the phone interactions.
Learn to use the computer software package used in the workshop to support bookings.

This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.

Formal Training:
First Aid training
Manual Handling
Safe Pass
Customer Service
Informal Training:

Health and safety in the workshop including fire points and exits.
