Pipefitter/Welder for workshop
Job Summary
Hamilton French are currently seeking experienced Pipefitters for workshop-based roles in Portlaoise, supporting fabrication projects for our well-known clients. The successful candidates will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and preparing piping systems to precise engineering standards in a controlled workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Interpret and work from engineering drawings, isometrics, and layout plans.
Measure, cut, thread, bend, and weld pipes to precise specifications.
Fabricate and assemble piping systems using carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials.
Prepare pipe ends (bevelling, grinding, cleaning) for welding and fitting.
Assemble flanges, valves, and fittings using appropriate tools and techniques.
Conduct hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests on fabricated assemblies.
Ensure all work meets company quality standards and project tolerances.
Operate pipe fabrication machinery including threading machines, cutting tools, and bending equipment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Record daily work progress and communicate effectively with supervisors and welders.
Requirements
Qualified Pipefitter with relevant trade certification or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in workshop or fabrication environment.
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and isometrics.
Competent in the use of pipe fabrication tools and equipment.
Knowledge of various materials (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC).
Understanding of welding processes and preparation standards.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Commitment to workplace safety and quality assurance.
Desirable
Experience in industrial, pharmaceutical, or mechanical services sectors.
Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
Familiarity with ISO and ASME fabrication standards.
