Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Overview:Seeking a graduate who is eager to gain experience in a laboratory setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer standards, and supporting the ongoing maintenance of the company's food safety and quality systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine laboratory testing and sampling in line with established procedures.
- Conduct testing and microbiological analyses as required.
- Verify cleaning and hygiene effectiveness through microbiological swabbing.
- Monitor carcass quality and ensure adherence to customer specifications.
- Communicate and respond to customer requests for technical information.
- Maintain and regularly update the Laboratory Procedures Manual.
- Ensure all daily testing tasks are completed accurately and that results are reviewed and actioned as necessary.
- Review and sign off weekly test records, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare and submit weekly reports for the QA Manager and Veterinary Inspector.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and legislation, and liaise with DAFM officials as required.
- Support the management of Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) and Non-Conforming Product processes.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of HACCP, hygiene, and food safety requirements.
- Contribute to product and process development reviews.
- Oversee and support sanitation and cleaning management activities.
- Assist in maintaining the Food Safety & Quality Management System.
- Support the achievement and maintenance of the BRC, Bord Bia MPQAS, and retailer/customer accreditation standards.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Company or the Quality Assurance Manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A relevant qualification in Science or Agri-Science (or related field).
- Comfortable working with meat products.
- Desire to gain experience within a laboratory.
- Experience working in a food factory is desirable.
