AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of electrical, mechanical, software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Amazon Web Services is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and deployment of electrical products for the Data Center Engineering Electrical Products and Services team (DCE-EPS). The DCE-EPS team is a part of a global engineering team responsible for the design and operation of products used within our rapidly expanding data center footprint.

This position is in Dublin, Ireland and the role has global scope. The primary focus is on International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) electrical equipment development in EMEA and APAC regions with focus on low and medium voltage switchgear, and electrical power distribution, as well as Underwriters Laboratories (UL) similar products for AMER regional deployments.

The DCE-EPS team at Amazon works to design and develop resilient, cost-effective electrical distribution products and systems. As engineers at Amazon Web Services (AWS), we are responsible for achieving world class uptime for our customers. We justify and communicate the technical decisions we make to senior leadership and work hard to drive continuous advancements and improvements with our designs.

The engineering team drives change and defines/designs the systems our customers rely on, then ensure those products are production ready for at-scale global deployments and operationally ready to ensure operational and maintenance serviceability parameters are met.

Amazon offers a fast paced, fun, and exciting work environment. We continue to grow at exponential rates and are looking for individuals that can support our speed to market, enjoy a challenge, and have a desire for professional growth and continuous learning experiences.

Amazon’s work environment is unique in every aspect and offers an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate.

If you are natural leader, smart and driven high performing team of engineers that enjoys working with complex problems we want you! At Amazon, you will be responsible for working on multi-million-dollar designs and supporting our wide variety of customers.

Great ideas are encouraged and supported. Ingenuity is the main mechanism which supports our focus on quality, speed, and cost.

At Amazon, teamwork is necessary for us to accomplish our goals. You must be able to lead your team and work within a broader team, and depend on others to accomplish the required work. As an Engineering Manager at Amazon, you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including engineering service providers, manufacturers, vendors, inspectors, third party testing labs and contractors.

Amazon has a global presence. Travel will be necessary but shouldn’t be more than 20%. International support will be part of the job, and some international travel may be necessary. Support could consist of leading international projects and could require developing engineering packages.

An understanding of international electrical design requirements is helpful but not necessary.

Key job responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a diverse team of product design engineers, technical product managers, technical program managers, lifecycle engineers in developing and designing new electrical infrastructure equipment, then deploying that equipment at-scale.
  • Work with partner teams to understand opportunities for design improvement and manage mechanisms that align iterative design decisions.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines within Data Center Engineering, such as Reliability and Quality, compliance, electrical controls, and procurement teams to create well thought out product solutions.
  • Lead creation of designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements while delivering a return on investment and ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries.
  • Lead a team working on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
  • Demonstrate strong vocal leadership within the Electrical Products and Services team as well as with internal and external teams that support the data center.
