Quality Technician

This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry regulations, and third-party standards. You'll support audits, champion good manufacturing practice, and help drive a culture of quality throughout the site.

Responsible for:

  • Support the development and maintenance of Quality Systems across the site.
  • Stay informed on regulatory and compliance changes and apply them effectively.
  • Ensure customer, legal, and food industry standards are consistently met.
  • Coordinate the implementation of standards throughout the processing environment, maintaining an /"audit-ready/" mindset at all times.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, coaching teams in GMP and ensuring compliance.
  • Assist with customer and regulatory audits, managing non-conformances from root cause through to corrective action.
  • Conduct raw material inspections at intake and communicate non-conformances to suppliers.
  • Manage supplier approvals including certification, specification updates, and SAQs.
  • Participate in the internal audit schedule, including traceability, hygiene, and system audits.
  • Maintain and audit the glass/Perspex register.
  • Oversee document control - update procedures, manage production paperwork, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Perform in-process quality checks to ensure products meet customer specifications.
  • Organise and contribute to management taste panels.
  • Prepare and send samples for external microbiological testing, carry out internal micro tests, and report any out-of-spec results.
  • Conduct environmental swabbing and trend results to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support the Quality Manager and wider management team with additional quality-related tasks as needed.
  • Work flexibly as part of a fast-paced Quality team.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or third-level qualification in Science, Quality, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years' experience in the food industry or a similar environment, including experience within a Quality function.
  • Strong understanding of food manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on experience with quality assurance practices and interpreting regulatory requirements.
  • Solid knowledge of BRC standards (essential).
  • Ability to work independently and drive improvements with moderate guidance.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong technical capabilities.
  • Confident multitasker with strong organisational skills.
  • Good IT literacy (MS Office, documentation systems).
  • A genuine passion for delivering exceptional quality standards.
