Due to ongoing expansion, we are seeking to recruit a full-time Plant Operations Technician to join our production team at the Belview site.
Role Overview
The Plant Operations Technician will be responsible for operating and monitoring cement milling processes from the central control room, supporting day-to-day production activity, and maintaining plant efficiency. The role will also involve material handling tasks using a loading shovel to support the continuous feed of the mill, when required.The successful candidate will work in close coordination with other production staff to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperate and monitor the milling process from a centralised control room using digital interfaces and visual data.
Liaise with assistant millers and site personnel to ensure smooth running of daily operations.
Take samples and monitor quality results in accordance with production requirements.
Conduct routine checks on plant equipment and report any issues promptly.
Support troubleshooting and first-line response to process irregularities.
Operate a loading shovel to feed raw materials into the mill as required.
Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness in operational areas.
Complete documentation and records related to daily operations, stock levels, and maintenance checks.
Demonstrate flexibility to carry out both control room and physical operative tasks depending on production demands.
Skills and Experience RequirementsBasic computer skills including email and spreadsheet usage (Excel).
Mechanical aptitude or previous experience in a manufacturing or plant environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
Experience operating mobile plant or loading equipment is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.
A loading shovel ticket is an advantage but not required.
Willingness to work overtime or flexible hours when necessary.
