Protection and Control Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Protection and Control Engineer to support the delivery of high-voltage infrastructure projects across the SSE portfolio. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on critical energy transmission and distribution schemes that are shaping the future of the UK's power network.
You'll be responsible for designing, reviewing, and implementing protection and control systems for substations and grid connections, ensuring compliance with SSE standards and UK regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and review protection and control schemes for 11kV to 400kV networks.
- Produce technical documentation including SLDs, protection coordination studies, and relay settings.
- Collaborate with SSE project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant delivery.
- Support FAT/SAT testing and commissioning activities.
- Ensure designs meet National Grid and SSE specifications, including NGTS and ENA standards.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Proven experience in protection and control engineering within the UK power sector.
- Familiarity with SSE standards and working practices.
- Proficiency in relay configuration software (e.g., Siemens DIGSI, Schneider, SEL, ABB).
- Strong understanding of grid codes, protection philosophies, and fault analysis.
