We’re hiring a Weekend Maintenance Technician on behalf of one of our clients here in Naas, Co. Kildare. at our state-of-the-art facility in Naas. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll be working on rotating weekend shifts to support the performance and reliability of their fast-paced production environment.
As a Weekend Maintenance Technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving plant equipment to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency across the production lines. You'll support both mechanical and electrical aspects of the plant, working in a modern FMCG setting with advanced machinery and automation.
You’ll be part of a rotating team structure, working opposite shifts to ensure consistent weekend coverage.
Location: Naas, Co. KildareHourly Rate: €26.50 + 30% premium for night shifts
Shift Pattern: 8am–8pm (Days) / 8pm–8am (Nights), rotating weekly
Key Responsibilities:
Provide frontline maintenance support to ensure production continuityPerform both scheduled and reactive maintenance tasks across the facility
Conduct installation, wiring, and commissioning of new plant equipment
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical faults on PLC-controlled systems
Carry out regular facility checks including meter readings and discrepancies
Liaise with equipment suppliers for installations, upgrades, and technical troubleshooting
Collaborate with the team to drive uptime and reduce downtime across utilities and production areas
Manage on-site contractors, including safety permits and induction processes
Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives and participate in relevant projects
Read and interpret PLC programs, electrical wiring diagrams, and control schematics
Provide technical support across key plant services such as refrigeration and compressed air
Complete all maintenance work orders in line with GMP and safety requirements
Adhere strictly to site hygiene, safety, and quality standards (e.g. PPE, handwashing, cleanroom protocols)
Assist with health & safety risk assessments and ensure training is rolled out across the maintenance team
Provide support with phone cover and emergency call-outs when necessary
Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant third-level qualification in Engineering or a time-served Electrician/Fitter (Electrical or Mechanical) is requiredMinimum 3 years of experience in a maintenance technician role within an FMCG or industrial environment is required
Strong understanding of planned and reactive maintenance practices
Experience with PLCs, control diagnostics, and temperature or PC-controlled systems
Hands-on mechanical repair and troubleshooting capabilities
Comfortable using instrumentation and control programming tools
Knowledge of food safety, quality, and health & safety regulations
Familiarity with Excel or basic computer systems for maintenance documentation
Ability to work independently and under pressure, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a team-player mindset
A ‘can-do’ attitude with the flexibility to support shift cover as needed
