FIELD SALES MANAGER

My client, a well-established supplier of construction and building materials based in Tuam, is seeking a motivated and results-driven Field Sales Manager to join their expanding team. This role is responsible for promoting and selling a wide range of products and services to a diverse client base, including builders, contractors, developers, commercial enterprises, and government organisations.

The successful candidate will focus on developing new business, nurturing existing relationships, and consistently meeting performance targets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sell the company’s products and services to customers including builders, contractors, developers, commercial enterprises, and government organisations.
  • Acquire new business by approaching potential customers.
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business.
  • Meet individual and team sales targets in a demanding and performance-driven environment.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key accounts.
  • Conduct market research to prepare a detailed prospecting list.
  • Set a weekly journey plan and complete a daily sales report as part of the reporting process (reports submitted to the General Manager).
  • Present products or services in a structured and professional manner during face-to-face interactions.
  • Understand customer requirements and deliver tailored presentations to facilitate sales.
  • Maintain relationships with existing customers through meetings, phone calls, emails, and text messages.
  • Conduct cold calls to schedule meetings with potential clients and explore new business opportunities.
  • Respond promptly to all incoming text messages, emails, and phone inquiries, and provide competitive quotes where possible.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and both current and prospective markets.
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, complete credit report applications, establish new credit terms, and finalise sales transactions.
  • Arrange for the collection of all outstanding payments from customers on the due date.
  • Create quotations and detailed proposal documents as part of a formal bidding process.
  • Set prices in line with quotations provided to new customers.
  • Address objections and guide customers toward purchase decisions.
  • Advise customers on upcoming promotional activities and discuss special offers.
  • Attend sales team meetings and share best practices with colleagues.
  • Build contacts with suppliers and supplier representatives to enhance product knowledge.
  • Collect market and customer data and provide regular reports to the General Manager.

  • Excellent time management and organisation.
  • A customer-focused approach and ability to build lasting relationships.
  • Industry knowledge (construction, hardware, or related fields) is an advantage.
