What the day will look like
Owing to the ongoing growth and success of our Construction business in Ireland, Commercial Risk Solutions seeks an experienced and motivated Account Executive. This role is within our skilled Construction team in the National and Specialty Division.Reporting to the Director, the Account Executive will handle client relationships for various Employers, Project Owners, and Construction accounts. They will also assist the Director in applying new business plans and collaborate effectively with the team.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of Construction Clients in a busy and proactive broking setting. These Clients cover diverse business types, including Employers, Project Owners, and some of the largest companies in the Construction sector across Ireland and EMEA. Their annual turnovers exceed €100m.
- Managing projects with contracts from €20m up to multiple billions, this role delivers both variety and extensive experience unlike any other.
- Managing projects and clients’ renewals from start to finish. Assisting with mid-term alterations. Handling day-to-day client and carrier queries and related administrative duties.
- Assisting the Director in carrying out our new business plans and achieving ambitious new business goals as we continue to expand our Construction Industry Vertical in Ireland.
- Advising clients on various general insurance products, with particular emphasis on Contractors All Risks, Delay in Start Up (DSU), Third Party Liability, Non-Negligence, Marine Cargo, and Marine DSU.
- Vetting insurance and supporting documentation against defined requirements/standards on behalf of collaborators.
- Providing support to our designated claims team in the handling of insurance claims.
- Offering support as needed to colleagues working with a variety of general lines products.
- Reviewing complex policy wordings and construction contracts, often advising clients at the early stages of contract drafting around the accurate risk allocation within the contract.
- Building positive relationships with clients, underwriters and colleagues through the delivery of a market-leading service.
- Securing and keeping clients by delivering outstanding service.
- Supporting the Construction team and other Aon colleagues to consistently provide outstanding service.
- Participation in campaigns and sales initiatives to target new clients.
- Growing and sharing knowledge and capabilities.
- Maintaining the utmost standards of compliance and adherence to broking best-practice.
- Aligning with all management audit requirements.
- Other duties that may arise as the business requires.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
The ideal Account Executive will have:
- Strong relevant experience in the insurance broking sector working on both new and existing business in a client facing role
- This role will offer brilliant on-the-job experience and training but preferably the candidate will already have some working knowledge of managing and placing Contractors All Risks, Delay in Start Up (DSU), Third Party Liability, Non-Negligence, Marine Cargo and Marine DSU coverages
- A flair for new business and enjoy meeting with and creating new relationships and contacts with new customers
- Comply, on an ongoing basis, with the minimum competency requirements laid down by the Central Bank, including but not limited to:
- To be CIP qualified (minimum) Progress to ACII (desirable)
- Meet the Central Bank Fitness & Probity standards
- Provide evidence of compliance with maintaining CPD hours
- Have a desire to improve knowledge across a range of general insurance products
- Team player with the ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to prioritize workload and deliver on objectives
- Have a strong customer focus and a keen eye for detail
- Brilliant customer service where the customer is the priority
