Assistant Director of Nursing – Nursing Home

Nursing Home is a modern, purpose-built facility with 62-100 beds, including private ensuite and shared rooms. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our senior management team.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON), the ADON supports the delivery of safe, high-quality care. This leadership role covers daily clinical operations, staff supervision, rostering, clinical governance, and quality improvement. The ADON will also deputise for the DON when required.

• Lead and support staff to ensure residents receive excellent, person-centred care.
• Oversee assessments, care plans, documentation, and medication management.
• Conduct clinical audits and ensure hygiene, safety, and risk standards are met.
• Mentor and appraise staff, identify training needs, and promote professional development.
• Manage rosters and staffing levels, minimising agency use.
• Act as a point of contact for residents and families, resolving issues promptly.
• Support a collaborative, professional team culture.

• Proven leadership and organisational skills
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Sound clinical decision-making
• Motivation to achieve high standards of care

• Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Evidence of ongoing CPD
• Previous management experience in healthcare or residential care
