Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Travel Manager to oversee all aspects of corporate travel, meetings, and long-term accommodation across our operations. This is a key role within our Procurement team, responsible for managing a team and driving category performance, supplier relationships, and cost efficiencies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in travel management combined with advanced Excel and data analytics skills to drive data-led decision-making and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Travel & Accommodation Management- Lead and manage the company’s travel program across air, rail, car hire, and accommodation (including long-term stays).
- Oversee travel booking platforms, policies, and compliance to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage supplier relationships, including TMC, hotel chains, and other relevant vendors.
- Develop and implement strategies for meetings and group travel arrangements.
- Manage and mentor a team responsible for day-to-day travel operations and support.
- Ensure clear KPIs and service levels are met or exceeded.
- Foster a culture of customer service, process efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Leverage advanced Excel and analytical tools (e.g., Power BI, pivot tables, dashboards) to analyse travel spend, compliance, usage patterns, and opportunities for savings.
- Where required, create reports and presentations for senior management on travel performance and trends.
- Monitor KPIs and produce regular dashboards to support strategic decisions.
- Take ownership of specific travel-related spend categories, negotiating contracts, managing budgets, and driving supplier performance.
- Work collaboratively with Procurement, Finance, HR and relevant Business Units to align category strategies with broader company goals.
- Review and update travel policies to reflect changing business needs and market conditions.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, risk mitigation strategies, and sustainability targets.
Experience:
Required:
- Proven experience in travel management in a complex, multi-site organisation.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Familiarity with TMC/booking platforms.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills – including experience with pivot tables, lookups, and data visualization tools (Power BI or similar).
- Strong understanding of the corporate travel market, vendor negotiations, and category strategy.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable:
- Experience within the construction, engineering, or project-based industry.
- Understanding of sustainability trends in travel.
