This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance.Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Job Description
LC Tiles & Bathrooms are looking for an individual who has an interest in learning new skills and would like to gain further employment in Tiling and related construction.
This practical work placement will: Support the participant in gaining all skills associated with Tiling, Flooring and other general construction skills.
Provide practical skills and experience assisting experienced tilers in:
- Tiling Floors & Walls
- Area/Surface preparation
- Preparing Grout/ Sealant/ Bonding Agents
- Basic Kitchen & Bathroom Unit assembly
The participant will also gain practical skills with regards to working within Health and Safety guidelines, learning the use of different tools and the practical application of those skills on site.
Role Description
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
The participant will receive formal/informal training and mentoring in the following:
FORMAL TRAININGSafe Pass training
Manual Handling training
Abrasive wheel training
INFOERMAL TRAININGTraining on various tools and machinery linked to all aspects of domestic and commercial tiling
Training on mixing/preparing sealant and bonding materials on site and application of same
Training on the use of levelling compounds
Training in the tiling of walls, flooring and other surfaces
