We are a leading electrical contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex utility and infrastructure projects across Ireland. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of utility-focused work, we are seeking an experienced Project Planner to join our team based in Dublin.
Role Overview
The Project Planner will play a key role in the planning and delivery of utility-based electrical infrastructure projects, including high-voltage installations, grid connections, and distribution systems. This role involves developing and maintaining detailed programmes, coordinating with multiple internal teams, and ensuring works are delivered in line with contract timelines and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, update and maintain detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, commercial teams and site staff to develop work plans and monitor progress.
- Produce fully resourced, logic-linked programmes for tenders and live projects.
- Support in the identification of project risks and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with utility providers (e.g. ESB Networks, EirGrid) to ensure compliance with planning and scheduling requirements.
- Provide regular progress reports, forecasts and performance metrics to both internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Attend and contribute to progress meetings, both on-site and with clients.
- Undertake time impact analysis to support change control and claims management processes.
- Promote best practices in planning, project controls and time management across all projects.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a planning role within the utilities or infrastructure sectors.
- Proficient in Primavera P6; experience with MS Project also beneficial.
- Solid understanding of electrical utility infrastructure (e.g. substations, cable routing, transmission/distribution networks).
- Previous experience working on projects involving ESB, EirGrid, or similar utility clients.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently on complex programmes.
- Experience working with NEC or FIDIC forms of contract.
- Familiarity with earned value management (EVM) principles.
- Working knowledge of BIM and digital construction tools.
- Professional planning accreditation (e.g. AACE, PMI-SP) is an advantage.
