  • Department: Hardware Engineering / Electrical EngineeringJob Type: Contract (Outside IR35)Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Electronics/PCB Design Engineer with deep expertise in high current and high-power PCB layout and design.
  • This role focuses on designing complex power electronics systems handling currents from 10A to over 200A, incorporating best practices for thermal management, signal integrity, and manufacturability.
  • The ideal candidate is highly skilled in hands-on PCB design, can work autonomously, and collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams including hardware, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the full lifecycle of PCB layout for high-power electronic systems.
  • Design boards optimized for high current handling, including trace width, copper thickness, thermal dissipation, and creepage/clearance considerations.
  • Conduct power integrity, impedance, and thermal simulations.
  • Define board architecture and work closely with hardware engineers on component placement strategies.
  • Generate complete manufacturing documentation: Gerber files, BOMs, assembly drawings, and pick-and-place data.Support hardware validation, bring-up, and testing.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior designers or contractors.Liaise with vendors for DFM (Design for
  • Manufacturability) and DFT (Design for Testability) reviews.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.7+ years of professional PCB design experience, with at least 3 years in high current/high power applications.
  • Strong command of PCB design tools such as Mentor Graphics, Cadence Allegro, or equivalent.
  • Deep knowledge of power planes, thermal vias, stack-up design, and heat dissipation techniques.
  • Experience designing systems such as DC-DC converters, motor controllers, battery management, or power distribution units.Familiarity with IPC standards, especially for high current applications.
  • Proficiency in thermal, power integrity, and signal integrity simulations.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation in high current PCB designs.
  • Knowledge of mixed-signal and embedded system integration.
  • Industry experience in automotive, industrial, or aerospace environments.Familiarity with heavy copper PCB fabrication and multi-layer designs.
