The Solas Examinations Administrator will work with the Examinations Office team and will
require regular contact with students, staff and external stakeholders. The Solas
Examinations Administrator provides a wide range of important services to staff and
students of the University. The Solas Examinations Administrator will also deal with

confidential and personal information.

The successful candidate will have experience as follows: Essential

  • Have obtained at least Grade D3 (H6/O6) in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate
Examination (higher, ordinary, applied, or vocational programmes) or equivalent or
have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications
framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate
standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which
encompasses equivalent skills and expertise.
  • Experience in a post which indicates the potential of the applicant to perform the main
duties of the post.
  • Proficiency in the use of information and communication technologies including the
Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Outlook, Excel and Teams. Know-how and
skills in the use of IT and information systems generally.
  • The post will involve access to and processing of significant confidential information
and will involve regular interaction with academic and other administrative staff, students, external organisations and individuals at all levels where discretion, tact and
courtesy and sound judgment will be required.
  • Good organisational skills are essential.
  • A thorough understanding of the overall workings of the University.
  • Good communication skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the
ability to communicate well orally, in writing, or via electronic means, as appropriate
to audience requirements.
  • Good administrative and office management skills.
  • Good analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to be adaptable and responsive to the varied and dynamic work environment
which is necessary for the efficient operation of the Examinations Office.
  • Fluent in written & spoken English
