QHSE Manager New

apartmentCPL placeSligo calendar_month

We are working with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business serving regulated, high-volume production environments. As the company continues to grow and mature, there is a requirement to appoint a QHSE Manager who can take ownership of Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental systems and help elevate standards across the organisation.

This is a hands-on, influential role, suited to someone who enjoys building robust frameworks, improving what already exists, and working closely with operational teams to embed best practice.

The Opportunity

This role offers the chance to:

  • Take ownership of QHSE across multi-site operations in Ireland and the UK
  • Strengthen and formalise Quality and Environmental systems
  • Review and enhance existing Health & Safety practices
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, while supporting and mentoring on-site teams
  • Shape QHSE culture in a practical, realistic, and people-focused way

Rather than inheriting a “perfect” system, you’ll be given the autonomy to assess, improve, and evolve how QHSE is delivered across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Quality
  • Develop, maintain, and improve the Quality Management System
  • Ensure compliance with customer standards, specifications, and audits
  • Lead internal and external audits and manage corrective actions
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis
Health & Safety
  • Review, maintain, and strengthen Health & Safety systems
  • Ensure compliance with UK and Irish H&S legislation
  • Lead risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work
  • Investigate incidents and implement preventative actions
  • Promote a positive, proactive safety culture across sites
Environmental
  • Develop and maintain Environmental Management practices
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation
  • Monitor and improve performance related to waste, energy, and sustainability
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Act as the primary QHSE point of contact for customers, auditors, and regulators
  • Provide clear reporting and guidance to senior management
  • Support and mentor internal stakeholders to build long-term QHSE capability
  • Travel between sites as required
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven QHSE experience within manufacturing or regulated environments
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Quality Management Systems
  • Health & Safety legislation (UK and/or Ireland)
  • Environmental compliance
  • Experience leading audits and managing non-conformances
  • Practical, solutions-focused mindset with strong influencing skills
  • Comfortable operating across sites and working closely with operations
Qualifications (Preferred, Not All Essential)
  • NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of (ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001)
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement or Lean environments
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in HSE, Quality, Engineering, or related field
Location & Flexibility
  • Role can be based in Ireland or the UK
  • Hybrid working may be considered depending on operational needs
  • Regular site presence and inter-site travel will be required
Why This Role Stands Out
  • Opportunity to shape and influence QHSE strategy rather than inherit rigid systems
  • High visibility and direct impact on operational performance
  • Supportive, engineering-led culture with a practical approach to compliance
  • Long-term opportunity to grow and mature QHSE capability within the business
