The Early Years Educator will be responsible for the day-to-day provision of a stimulating and caring environment for children aged 1-5 years. The role involves supporting children’s holistic development, ensuring their safety and wellbeing, and implementing an emergent, play-based curriculum aligned with Aistear, Síolta, and current regulatory requirements.
Duties to include -Plan, implement, and review developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and emerging needs.
Foster a secure, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Observe, record, and assess each child’s development and learning using tools such as learning journals, observations, and checklists.
Promote positive behaviour management strategies in line with the setting’s policy.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
Ensure compliance with all relevant Tusla Childcare Regulations and the service’s policies and procedures.
Adhere to child protection and welfare policies; report concerns to the Designated Liaison Person (DLP).
Engage in regular team meetings, planning sessions, and continuous professional development.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised learning environment.
Contribute to the ongoing review and implementation of quality frameworks (e.g., Síolta standards).
Key Requirements
Essential: Minimum Level 5 QQI Major Award in Early Childhood Care and Education (or equivalent).
Good knowledge of Aistear, Síolta, and the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of child protection and welfare principles.
Garda Vetting clearance and two references.
Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
Requirements: Level 5 or higher qualification in Early Childhood Education.
Desirable: Experience working in a Tusla-registered early years setting.
First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Safety, and HACCP training.
Additional training in areas such as Special Educational Needs, Behaviour Management, or Outdoor Play.
