This role leads the end-to-end delivery of solar PV projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to high quality standards. You will manage project programmes, contractors, and stakeholders, while overseeing H&S compliance, commercial performance, and technical delivery.

The position requires strong project leadership, construction knowledge, and renewable energy experience, with the ability to drive results and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
  • Lead the implementation of H&S, PSCS, and statutory duties throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee and approve RAMS, Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), and permit-to-work systems.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all teams and subcontractors.
  • Lead emergency response readiness and conduct thorough incident investigations
  • 2. Technical & Contractual Knowledge
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes, particularly for solar PV projects.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents, ensuring design intent is delivered.
  • Manage EPC contracts, including variations, claims, and contractual compliance.
  • Oversee commissioning, energisation, and all project handover requirements.
  1. Programme & Construction Management
  • Develop, monitor, and update project programmes using MS Project or Primavera.
  • Track progress, report on milestones, and forecast schedule impacts.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, bottlenecks, and delays.
  • Coordinate multiple work fronts and resource allocation across subcontractors and internal teams.
  1. Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring alignment, communication, and productivity.
  • Run effective project meetings, toolbox talks, and coordination briefings.
  • Resolve conflicts promptly and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Promote collaboration, strong team morale, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • 5. Quality Assurance & Documentation
  • Oversee Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), inspections, and quality sign-offs.
  • Identify potential quality issues early and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage project documentation including as-builts, redlines, O&M manuals, and handover files.
  • Ensure all solar modules, cables, racking, and mechanical works comply with required standards.
  1. Commercial & Financial Management
  • Develop, track, and control project budgets.
  • Manage valuations, payment applications, variations, and change control.
  • Oversee procurement, subcontractor accounts, and commercial packages.
  • Understand and manage project cash flow and monthly financial reporting.
  1. Stakeholder & Client Interface
  • Communicate proactively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and statutory authorities.
  • Manage client expectations, respond to queries, and provide professional project updates.
  • Prepare and deliver clear and informative reports, dashboards, and presentations.
  • Lead project handover and deliver client training and operational briefings.
  1. Environmental & Planning Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental controls and project planning conditions.
  • Implement and monitor waste, noise, dust, and water management controls.
  • Demonstrate understanding of biodiversity and ecological requirements on renewable sites.

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline
(Equivalent trade qualification with substantial site experience also considered.)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management within construction, utilities, or the renewable energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, PSCS duties, and statutory compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage EPC contracts, variations, claims, and contractual documentation.
  • Strong technical understanding of civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes, particularly for solar PV projects.
  • Demonstrated competence in project planning and scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience in quality assurance, ITPs, inspections, and technical documentation (as-builts, O&M files).
  • Financial literacy with experience in budget control, cash flow, valuations, and cost forecasting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience coordinating construction, commissioning, and energisation activities.
  • Ability to manage environmental controls, waste, noise, dust, and planning conditions on construction sites.
