Here at Osborne, we are currently seeking an Effluent Plant & Waste Co-Ordinator on behalf of one of our clients in the Food Manufacturing Industry. This role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the Effluent Plant, Odour Abatement System and Category 3 waste areas while ensuring environmental, safety, hygiene and production standards are maintained.The successful candidate will play an important role in monitoring plant conditions, managing chemical usage and coordinating waste management activities to ensure smooth and compliant operations.

Location: Naas, Co. Kildare
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 2:00pm- 10:00pm (occasional weekend work)
Reporting To: Effluent Plant SupervisorSalary: €16.50 per hour
Key Responsibilities: Plant Operations & Monitoring
Monitor operating conditions including tank levels, pumps, motors and valves to ensure efficient plant performance.
Record operational data such as meter readings, gauge levels, pH levels and flow readings on required checklists.
Adjust equipment controls where necessary to maintain water purification and waste processing performance.
Respond promptly to any issues or emergencies within the Effluent Plant to prevent environmental discharge or system failure.
Report equipment faults or maintenance issues to the engineering or maintenance team.
Operate equipment in line with training and approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Participate in PIT meetings and support team communication.
Chemical & Waste Management
Manage chemical stocks required for the Effluent Plant, CIP kitchen and Odour Abatement System.
Safely prepare and add chemicals such as acids or specialist reagents in accordance with SOPs.
Support the production team in Plant 1 with Category 3 waste and recycling management.
Oversee the Cat 3 waste area, ensuring high hygiene standards and organising waste collections.
Maintain accurate records of waste and chemical usage in relevant logbooks.
Liaise with external suppliers to coordinate chemical deliveries and waste collections.
Compliance, Quality & Hygiene
Collect and test effluent samples to ensure treated water meets regulatory and company standards.
Maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness across the plant and surrounding work areas.
Follow cleaning schedules to ensure tanks, machines and equipment are maintained to the required standard.
Adhere to company quality standards, food safety requirements and health & safety procedures.
Work closely with Shift Supervisors to plan and coordinate waste collections.
Identify opportunities to improve processes and plant performance.
Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with a minimum of 6 months within FMCG.
Experience in wastewater or effluent treatment is advantageous.
A valid Forklift licence is required.
Proficiency in computers for recording operational data.
Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
Understanding of health & safety and food safety standards.
Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical handling practices is desirable.
Safe Pass certification or equivalent industrial safety training.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Proactive, flexible and ability to respond to operational needs.
Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing tanks, turning valves and lifting chemical containers.
Use of mandatory PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe boots and chemical-resistant gloves when handling hazardous materials.
