Systems Engineer (Safety & Integration)
About Manna
At Manna, we’re changing how the world receives things — by taking delivery to the skies.
Our mission is simple but ambitious: to make high-speed suburban delivery affordable, green, and safe. We design and build our own aviation-grade drones that deliver food, coffee, groceries, and more — directly from local stores and vendors to people’s doors in just a few minutes.
We’re a team that Drive with Impact, are Safety Focused, and knows that the best ideas come from Team Players who show up as their Authentic Selves. We move fast, we are passionate about what we do, and we’re always pushing a growth mindset to be better — in everything we do.
If you want to build world-changing technology with real-world impact (and have a bit of fun while doing it), you’ll love it here.
Welcome to Manna — where we deliver the future.
Role Purpose
We are hiring a Systems Engineer. In this role you will ensure our aircraft, ground, and operational systems are designed, integrated, and operated with safety at their core. You’ll work across software, hardware, regulatory, and operations teams to define system-level behaviour, identify hazards, and deliver robust solutions that support scaled operations and certification.
Key ResponsibilitiesSystems Integration
- Develop and maintain a system-level understanding of Manna’s aircraft, ground infrastructure, and operational procedures.
- Define system architecture, interfaces, and functional decomposition across hardware, software, and human/operational elements.
- Drive requirements flow-down, ensuring traceability from system requirements to component-level implementation and verification.
- Lead integration planning and support execution, ensuring system behaviour matches assumptions across teams.
- Identify integration risks early and support design reviews with a system-wide perspective.
- Maintain high-quality system documentation, including system descriptions, ICDs, and requirement traceability.
- Own and contribute to safety assessments including FHA, PSSA, SSA, FMEA, FTA, human factors, and operational hazard analyses.
- Develop, maintain, and defend safety cases aligned with relevant standards and frameworks (e.g. EASA SC-UAS, SORA, ARP4754A/4761, FAA principles).
- Ensure safety requirements are correctly derived, allocated, verified, and validated.
- Analyse incidents, test outcomes, and operational data to continuously improve system safety and reduce risk.
- Promote a strong safety culture by embedding evidence-based safety thinking into engineering decisions and day-to-day development.
- Strong, methodical problem-solving background — able to break down complex system issues and drive them to resolution.
- 2+ years' experience in systems engineering, safety engineering, or a closely related role.
- Experience in safety-critical domains (aviation, aerospace, robotics, automotive, rail, industrial systems) preferred.
- Practical experience performing system safety analyses (FHA, FMEA, FTA, etc.).
- Experience working across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Exposure to autonomous systems, UAVs, avionics, or embedded systems is a strong advantage.
