We're seeking a driven and proactive Environmental Compliance Officer to help lead operational excellence in waste collection, processing, and recovery — with a strong focus on environmental standards and continuous improvement.
Reporting to the HR & Compliance Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring full compliance with environmental legislation and EPA requirements. While health and safety remains part of the remit, this position is primarily focused on delivering and enhancing environmental performance across operations.
About the role:
Clondalkin, Dublin 22Full-Time
€40,000 – €45,000
Key Responsibilities:
Lead site-wide environmental compliance, ensuring all activities adhere to EPA waste permits and current legislation.Conduct internal audits, inspections, and environmental sampling to support best practice and EPA readiness.
Maintain and improve the Environmental Management System (EMS), including SOPs and risk assessments.
Prepare and submit environmental reports and returns (quarterly and annual) to regulatory authorities.
Act as the main point of contact with regulatory bodies such as the EPA, HSA, and RSA.
Monitor industry updates, legislative changes, and technological developments to inform ongoing compliance strategies.
Provide internal guidance on environmental matters and support teams with best practices and improvements.
Design and deliver staff training, inductions, and toolbox talks on environmental policies and procedures.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
Support the delivery and maintenance of the Health & Safety Management System.Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments; track corrective actions to resolution.
Deliver health and safety inductions and toolbox talks to promote a culture of safety.
Investigate and report incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring follow-up actions are implemented.
Maintain training records and ensure compliance training is scheduled and completed.
Liaise with relevant authorities (e.g. HSA) on safety matters to ensure legal compliance.
What We’re Looking For:
Background in environmental compliance, environmental science, waste management, or a similar field.Strong understanding of Irish environmental legislation and EPA licensing requirements.
Familiarity with ISO standards, especially ISO 14001, is a strong advantage.
Excellent communication skills — confident dealing with both regulators and internal teams.
Detail-oriented, well-organised, and dependable under pressure.
A practical problem-solver who takes initiative and drives solutions forward.
