Application Details
Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.
To register your interest you can contact an Employment Personal Advisor (EPA) in your local Intreo Centre.
Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.
Job Description
Duties
This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.
General Duties
Getting familiar with the organisation’s policies and procedures, data protection guidelines and Health and Safety Statement Maintaining confidentiality about young person’s identity and any other personal and sensitive information
Keeping work areas safe according to the requirements of Youth Work Ireland Galway Health and Safety Statement and policy
Attending mandatory and job related trainings
Ensuring the organisation’s resources are used judiciously and avoiding resource wastage
Ensuring the time sheets are filled daily
Youth Counselling Support Role
Enter new Consent and Referral forms onto the main Counselling database daily Manage the diaries of each counsellor ensuring their appointments are booked out every week
Ensure each counsellor receives a copy of their diary and the necessary paperwork every week
Send appointment reminders to the parent/guardian of the young person attending counselling at least 24 hours before their appointment date
Answer any phone calls or emails from people looking for information regarding the Counselling Service
Communicate regularly with the Counselling Administrator on available appointment dates
Advise the locations where the counselling is taking place on dates where the service will be closed i.e., Christmas, mid-term. Easter etc.
Perform other duties as requested by the Senior Administrator or Managing Directors
Ensure all Counselling folders containing personal information are locked in filing cabinets when not in use and adhere to all GDPR protocols and guidelines
Necessary skills
Basic IT skills – internet, e-mail, file management, printing, copying, scanning Basic Word processing and typing
Basic Excel for maintaining Excel records
Reliability and punctuality
Attention to detail

Garda vetting is required for this position
