Construction Worker for Macroom.
Job Description:
A Construction Worker is required to assist blocklayers and carry out insulation works on new residential housing units. The role involves supporting masonry operations, handling materials, and installing insulation to meet building and energy efficiency standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesBlocklayer Support (Tending)
Supply blocks, mortar, and materials to blocklayers efficiently.
Mix mortar and ensure consistent quality.
Keep work areas stocked, clean, and organised.
Assist with setting up lines, levels, and profiles.
Remove waste and maintain safe access around work zones.
Insulation Work
Install insulation (cavity wall, slabs, boards) in accordance with drawings and specifications.
Ensure proper fitting to avoid gaps or thermal bridging.
Cut and fit insulation materials accurately.
Work alongside blocklayers to coordinate insulation placement within cavities.
Maintain quality standards for airtightness and energy efficiency.
General Duties
Load/unload materials and distribute across site.
Follow instructions from supervisors and tradesmen.
Maintain high health & safety standards at all times.
Use tools and equipment safely.
Keep site tidy and hazard-free.
Requirements
Previous construction site experience (especially with blocklayers or insulation).
Valid Safe Pass
Manual Handling certification.
Good understanding of basic construction practices.
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
Strong physical fitness.
Desirable Skills
Experience in blocklaying or groundwork support.
Knowledge of insulation standards (e.g. cavity wall insulation).
Ability to read basic drawings or follow setting-out lines.
Working Conditions
Outdoor site work in varying weather conditions.
Physically demanding tasks (lifting, bending, repetitive work).
Standard site hours with potential overtime.
