PE Global Healthcare in partnership with our client Ireland’s leading provider of residential and sub-acute care who are committed to delivering a high quality, person-centered services for older people are now seeking an experienced Director of Care to join the senior leadership team at one of their largest and most complex homes in Dublin.
Overview
The Director of care will be based at their facility in North Dublin supporting the PICs who will run two different elements of the home- the LTC side and the ABI Unit. The Director of Care will essentially run the operational side of things related to household, catering , activities, health and safety and facilities.The DOC will be governing and supporting the PICs from a clinical perspective.
Salary and Benefits
Up to 120K per annum. 10% annual bonus based on KPIs, 10% matched pension contribution, €1,500 per annum health insurance contribution, 30 days annual leave and x4 times salary Death in Service,Responsibilities
This is a senior leadership role with overall accountability for the quality, safety, and governance of care delivery within the home. The Director of Care will work in close partnership with two Persons in Charge (PICs) and alongside the Director of Operations, ensuring that clinical standards, regulatory compliance, and resident experience are consistently achieved.
The Role
The Director of Care provides strategic and operational leadership across all care functions within the home. The postholder will ensure robust clinical governance, strong professional practice, and a culture of continuous improvement, in line with the homes standards and national regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Care Quality & Governance- Provide leadership and oversight for the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with the Health Act 2007 and associated HIQA Regulations and Standards.
- Lead quality assurance processes, audits, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain regulatory readiness and support engagement with inspections and regulatory reviews.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the PICs and wider care and nursing teams.
- Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and reflective practice.
- Support performance management, supervision, and workforce planning in collaboration with HR.
- Ensure comprehensive assessment, care planning, safeguarding, and escalation processes are in place and effective.
- Act as a senior point of escalation for complex care and clinical matters.
- Champion resident dignity, autonomy, and quality of life.
- Work closely with the Director of Operations to align care delivery with operational planning and resource management.
- Contribute to strategic and service development planning for the home.
- Support effective communication and collaboration across all departments.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards and codes of practice.
- Promote evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
- Support training, education, and competency development across the care workforce.
Person Specification
Essential- Registered Nurse with active NMBI registration.
- Significant senior leadership experience within residential, sub-acute, or comparable regulated care settings in Ireland.
- Strong knowledge of HIQA regulations, governance, and inspection processes.
- Demonstrated experience in quality improvement, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making capabilities.
- Postgraduate qualification in healthcare management, leadership, or a related discipline.
- Experience leading services in large or complex care environments.
- Proven track record of supporting positive regulatory outcomes.
- Senior leadership role within a well-established, progressive organisation.
- Clear governance structures with strong operational partnership.
