Purpose Of The Position: To support the RehabCare team in Dun Laoghaire

Responsible To: Community Services Manager RehabCare on a day to day basis and the PICES Supervisor
Hours Of Work:- 5 hours per week
The following is not an exhaustive list of the duties associated with the post but is intended for the guidance of the person assigned to the job
- Working with the RehabCare Dun Laoghaire Team and being supported by an outreach worker at all times
- Assist with the provision of flexible supports to clients with mild intellectual disabilities
- To ensure the provision of flexible supports in a range of activities including leisure time, the development of independent living skills, establishing and maintaining social networks, the use of community facilities and liaising with RehabCare staff
- Promotion of good general health and well-being of the service users
- Assist in the delivery of person centred programmes
- Establish and maintain good relationships with service users and colleagues
- Ensure that all interaction with the service user is approached in a professional manner with dignity and respect
- Comply with RehabCare’s safe guarding of vulnerable adults policies and procedure
- Observe all rules and regulations of the RehabCare services ensuring that all relevant regulations, policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
- Comply with health and safety legislation and assist with maintaining the highest standards of safety and good housekeeping within the centre
- Assist with the evacuation of service users / colleagues in accordance with RehabCare’s fire evacuation procedures for scheduled fire drills / emergencies etc.
- Assist with the supervision of service users for scheduled external events / excursions etc.
Full training and induction will be provided.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience of working with people with disabilities would be beneficial
- Interest in working in social care is desirable
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Friendly, positive and approachable manner
- Active listener with respect for the views of others
- Basic IT skills advantageous but not essential
- Ability to self-direct and work on own initiative
