Job Description:Fenor Pig Farms Ltd is looking for a dedicated Pig Farm Assistant to join our team and play a crucial role in the daily management and care of our pig herd. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all aspects of pig husbandry, ensuring that the animals are healthy, well-fed, and housed in clean and safe environments.
This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of animal welfare and farm hygiene. You will work closely with the farm management team to help maintain operational efficiency and contribute to the overall success of the farm.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and distribute feed and water to pigs in accordance with nutritional plans and schedules, ensuring consistent diet and hydration for optimal health.
Clean and sanitize pig pens, feeding areas, and other farm facilities regularly to maintain hygiene and prevent disease.
Monitor pig health daily, observing behavior and physical condition, and promptly report any signs of illness, injury, or distress to the farm supervisor or veterinarian.
Assist with the handling, moving, and transportation of pigs safely and humanely, ensuring minimal stress to the animals.
Support breeding activities as directed, including assisting with farrowing and piglet care.
Maintain farm equipment and infrastructure by performing routine maintenance tasks and reporting any repairs needed.
Follow strict biosecurity, safety, and animal welfare protocols to comply with regulatory standards and farm policies.
Record daily activities and observations accurately in farm logs and reports.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth workflow and effective communication across all farm operations.
Participate in ongoing training and development to improve skills and stay updated with best farming practices.
