Senior Speech and Language Therapist

Location: South Dublin

Contract: 12-Month Fixed Term (Full-Time)

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a well-established disability service based in Lucan. This is a 12-month fixed term contract offering the opportunity to work as part of a supportive, interdisciplinary team delivering high-quality, person-centred services.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide senior level speech and language therapy services to children and/or adults with complex needs, including intellectual disability, developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder, and associated communication and feeding needs.

The role involves managing a defined caseload, carrying out comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing intervention plans, and supporting service users, families and staff through consultation and training.

As a senior clinician, you will also provide clinical supervision and support to basic grade therapists and students where applicable, contribute to service development initiatives, participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, and ensure best practice standards in line with national policies and professional guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and prioritise a complex caseload independently.
  • Complete specialist assessments in communication, AAC, and dysphagia where relevant.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based intervention programmes.
  • Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team model.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to junior staff and students.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit and service development.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and reports in line with professional standards.
Essential Requirements
  • Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • CORU registration .
  • A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, including experience working with individuals with intellectual disability and/or complex needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision or leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong organisational, communication and teamworking skills.
Desirable
  • Experience working within a disability or community-based service.
  • Training or experience in AAC.
  • Full clean driver’s licence and access to own transport (if required for community visits).
