Live-In Family Support / Special Needs Carer – Accommodation Included (Firh

We are a warm, close-knit family near Firhouse, Dublin 24, looking for a kind, mature, and reliable person to provide consistent support for a gentle 9-year-old boy with mild special needs. He is loving, calm, and thrives with routine.

The role includes school runs, daily after-school care (Mon–Fri), and every second weekend.

A modern, one-bedroom apartment (valued at approx. €1,900/month) is provided rent-free as part of the arrangement, in exchange for around 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities include:

Morning school runs and afternoon care

School collections, snack time, reading, and light homework

Driving to activities (e.g. swimming, drama)

Every second weekend support or outings

Maintaining a calm, safe, and tidy environment

During school holidays:

The child will attend local camps. The carer will handle drop-offs and collections, with any extra hours discussed and paid separately if needed.

Driving:

A full clean driving licence and your own car are essential, as the home is in the Dublin Mountains (5 minutes from shops, but not on a bus route).

Accommodation:

The apartment is suitable for one person or a couple; however, the care role is for a single carer only.

If the carer has a partner living in the apartment, the partner must be employed full-time outside of the home and not involved in the childcare arrangement.

Ideal Candidate:

Warm, patient, and organised

Experience (or a genuine interest) in supporting children with additional needs

Calm and emotionally intelligent.

Reliable and seeking a long-term role (minimum 12 months).

References and Garda vetting are required.
