Payroll Specialist - 12‑Month Fixed Term Contract

Location: Dublin City (Hybrid)

A major national organisation responsible for delivering essential public services across Ireland is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their Payroll team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a large, complex environment supporting a high‑volume payroll of 2000 + employees, covering both weekly and monthly cycles.

You'll play a key role in delivering a seamless, accurate, end‑to‑end payroll service - from onboarding and changes to BIK, deductions, bonuses, and leavers - while supporting continuous improvement across payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full payroll lifecycle for weekly and monthly employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll deadlines
  • Set up new starters, process promotions, changes, and leavers within the payroll system
  • Maintain and update employee records, ensuring all payroll‑related data is accurate and up to date
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly payroll changes, including additional payments, bonuses, and allowances
  • Complete payroll‑related reconciliations, BIK calculations, deductions, and attendance inputs
  • Produce payroll reports, analyse variances, and support month‑end activities
  • Respond to payroll queries, and escalate issues where required
  • Maintain personnel files, databases, and documentation in line with data protection requirements
  • Support with onboarding, offboarding, medicals, welfare administration, and employee entitlements
Essential
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with Irish payroll processing, end-to-end.
  • A relevant degree‑level qualification and/or IPASS certified (desired)
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage deadlines
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and numerical ability
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
  • Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with strong decision‑making skills
