About the role
We are partnering with a leading multinational manufacturing organisation to hire a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a small Process & Test Engineering team at their advanced automation site in Tuam.
This is a great step‑up opportunity for an experienced Senior/Lead Manufacturing or Process Engineer who wants to take on ownership of site‑level industrial strategy, automation and robotics
What you will do- Lead a small on‑site Process & Test Engineering team (c. 3 engineers), acting as a hands‑on “player‑coach”
- Define and deploy the long‑term manufacturing and industrial strategy for the site, with a strong focus on automation, robotics and advanced manufacturing technologies
- Own industrialisation for new and existing products: processes, equipment selection, plant layout and validation of new lines
- Drive implementation and optimisation of high‑speed automated and robotic systems to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- Monitor performance of automated equipment, leading continuous improvement and problem‑solving activities across the plant
- Manage the site’s industrial investment roadmap and capex projects, including business cases, budgeting and execution
- Coordinate with global and regional functions (product lines, operations, process experts) to ensure standardised processes, equipment and best practices
- Participate in technical and project review committees, reviewing and approving process engineering changes (ECRs)
- Support other sites during industrialisation and ramp‑up phases as needed.
- Degree‑qualified in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechatronics or similar)
- 5+ years’ experience in a high‑volume manufacturing environment (automotive, electronics, medtech or similar), ideally with exposure to global or multi‑site organisations.
- Proven experience deploying, commissioning and supporting robotic and/or automated manufacturing systems on the production floor
- Strong background in process or manufacturing engineering, industrialisation and continuous improvement.
- Experience leading projects and/or mentoring engineers; formal people management experience is an advantage but not essential.
- Comfortable owning budgets/capex and contributing to site‑level planning and performance management.
- Excellent communication skills, with fluent English and the ability to work cross‑functionally with production, quality, maintenance and global engineering teams.
- Competitive base salary around €110,000 plus up to 10% performance‑related bonus (depending on experience and internal banding).
- Opportunity to step into a site‑level leadership role while still remaining close to the technology and automation.
- Exposure to cutting‑edge robotics and advanced manufacturing technologies within a global organisation, with clear scope for future progression.
- Pension 8% matching
- Private health insurance cover with Vhi for employee and their spouse/partner
