Our client is seeking a seasoned and strategic Head of Project Management to establish and lead a high-performing Project Management Office (PMO) within the Renewables sector. This role is central to the successful delivery of a wide-ranging infrastructure portfolio including onshore and offshore wind, solar, flextech, peatland rehabilitation, and public good projects.

Reporting to the Head of Renewables, the ideal candidate will bring exceptional leadership, programme governance, and commercial insight, with a proven ability to deliver complex projects from concept to commissioning.

This role will be based in Co Kildare.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
  • Establish and lead the PMO to support project governance, execution, and delivery aligned with corporate strategy.
  • Develop and implement scalable project frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and performance excellence.
Programme & Project Oversight
  • Manage full project lifecycles from early-stage development through to construction and handover.
  • Ensure seamless coordination across disciplines and alignment of project activities and priorities.
  • Lead risk, planning, and dependency management across all programmes.
Budget & Resource Management
  • Lead multi-year budget development and resource planning in partnership with finance and project teams.
  • Track expenditure and resource use against forecasts, ensuring optimisation across the project portfolio.
  • Align procurement strategy with delivery schedules and resourcing needs.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as the strategic liaison between the PMO and departments such as planning, grid, legal, engineering, procurement, and finance.
  • Represent project interests in leadership forums and with regulatory bodies and external partners.
  • Maintain transparency and consistency in project reporting and communications.
People Leadership
  • Build and lead a strong, collaborative PMO team with a clear focus on safety and quality.
  • Define performance standards and ensure talent development and succession planning.
  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and employee engagement across the team.
Performance & Reporting
  • Define and track KPIs to measure time, cost, quality, scope, and risk management across all projects.
  • Deliver timely and insightful updates to senior leadership and governance stakeholders.
  • Capture lessons learned and apply improvements to future project approaches.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, MSP) are highly desirable.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project/programme management within energy, infrastructure, or related sectors.
  • Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional teams and deliver high-value project portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, grid, and planning frameworks.
  • Experience working with government stakeholders, regulators, and key industry players is advantageous.
