The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is seeking to appoint an Assistant Lecturer in German Language & Studies on a specified purpose wholetime basis.
The successful applicant will play a key role in the academic direction and development of programmes and provision within Language Studies and across the Faculty, including contribution to the new Arts programme in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, and to student participation in Erasmus+ mobilities.
The role will require delivery in German Language & Studies to shape the experience and learning of students who will be adept and proficient communicators, capable of applying their linguistic and cultural knowledge in a variety of roles. The candidate will be a creative and innovative individual with insight into the professional practice of linguists.
The post will be primarily located at one of the TU Dublin campuses. The ideal candidate will have qualifications in German, a record of teaching and a relevant professional or research profile. The successful candidate will ideally be an active researcher, demonstrating ability to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research, and capable of contributing to research development, output and scholarly activity.A track record of achievement and output consistent with the applicant’s career stage is expected.
Working in an interdisciplinary environment and as part of a team, the candidate should be able to show initiative in proposing and championing new activities. The successful candidate will contribute to growth and development at undergraduate and postgraduate level and in line with Discipline and Faculty targets, and with broader TU Dublin Strategy.The appointee will be expected to engage in developments around the new University Educational Model and the European University of Technology Alliance, and in strategic partnership development with enterprise and community. Potential to foster collaboration with other disciplines and institutions and represent the Discipline locally, nationally and internationally is expected.
The successful candidate will actively participate in engagement and outreach activities and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
Hours of Work: This is a wholetime post. In addition to teaching hours (up to 18 hours per week) is in operation.
Location: The post will be based at one of the TU Dublin Campuses i.e. Aungier Street, Bolton Street, Grangegorman, Blanchardstown or Tallaght. Regular attendance at other sites will be required..
Salary:The Assistant Lecturer Salary Scale is:
- 47,572 - € 64,372 New Entrants
