Overview

An established adult disability residential service is seeking a passionate and experienced Behavioural Specialist to join its multidisciplinary team. This service supports adults with intellectual disabilities, behaviours of concern, and complex needs, with a strong focus on person-centred care, independence, and quality of life.

Role Purpose

The Behavioural Specialist plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, clinical and team-based behavioural support to service users with complex needs. The post holder will work closely with residents, frontline staff, and the wider multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate positive behavioural support plans in line with best practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive functional behavioural assessments.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate positive behavioural support plans.
  • Support staff teams in the preparation for multidisciplinary reviews.
  • Attend and actively contribute to multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Deliver training to staff in positive behavioural support approaches.
  • Work within professional scope of practice, clinical governance frameworks, and relevant codes of conduct.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete administrative duties as required.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and attend relevant CPD activities.
  • Communicate effectively and sensitively with residents, families, staff, and external professionals.
  • Adhere strictly to confidentiality and data protection requirements.
Essential Qualifications
  • Primary Degree in Psychology.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Behaviour Analysis or equivalent.
Essential Experience
  • Minimum of one year’s experience working with adults with disabilities, including one or more of the following:
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Acquired Brain Injury
  • Mental Health
  • Physical Disability
Desirable
  • Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) qualification.
