Role Overview
The Farm Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the integrated daily operations of a mixed agricultural enterprise comprising a dairy farming unit and a licensed animal breeding and boarding facility.The role ensures effective management of livestock production, animal welfare, staff supervision, and operational compliance across both agricultural and animal care activities.
Core Responsibilities
Dairy Farm Operations
Oversee daily dairy herd management, including milking routines and herd welfare
Monitor animal health, nutrition programmes, and productivity
Coordinate veterinary care and herd health planning
Maintain compliance with dairy hygiene, biosecurity, and farm safety standards
Supervise farm equipment use and maintenance scheduling
Animal Breeding & Facility Operations
Oversee operations of dog breeding and boarding facility
Ensure animal welfare standards are met in line with Irish regulations
Maintain breeding records, lineage tracking, and health documentation
Coordinate veterinary inspections and preventative care programmes
Manage facility cleanliness, hygiene, and biosecurity protocols
General Farm Operations
Supervise and train farm and animal care staff
Organise daily and weekly work schedules across both units
Maintain operational records and compliance documentation
Manage supply procurement and inventory control
Support budgeting and operational planning
Ensure compliance with all relevant Irish animal welfare and agricultural regulations
Requirements
Experience in livestock management, dairy farming, animal husbandry, or related agricultural operations
Experience supervising staff in a farm or animal care environment
Strong understanding of animal welfare and biosecurity standards
Ability to manage multiple operational areas in a structured environment
Good organisational and communication skills
