Grade IV Medical Secretary – Portlaoise (with off-site clinics in Mountmellick and one other location – full driving license required)
Full-time temporary , 35 hours per week
This is a vital role within a busy healthcare setting, requiring excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support
- Manage day-to-day clerical operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy
- Deal directly with members of the public, patients, and families in a professional and empathetic manner
- Work closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting clinical and management staff
- Manage patient appointments, referrals, and clinic schedules
- Answer queries in person, by phone, and by email in a courteous and timely way
- Take minutes of meetings, prepare agendas, and circulate information as required
- Supervise and support clerical staff where needed
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, files, and correspondence
- Ensure compliance with GDPR, policies, and internal procedures
- Provide admin support to off-site clinics in Mountmellick and other designated locations (driving license essential)
- Previous experience as a Medical Secretary or in a busy administrative role (healthcare setting preferred)
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook; database systems)
- Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Full driving license and access to own transport
- Immediately available
