Finance Systems & Reporting Accountant

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Location: Cork / Hybrid

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Finance Systems & Reporting Accountant to join a growing finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role combines financial accounting responsibilities with ownership of finance systems, reporting processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing financial systems, supporting business reporting requirements, and driving process efficiencies across the finance function. Working closely with senior leadership, the role will contribute to strategic finance projects while ensuring the delivery of accurate financial information and supporting business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Systems & Process Improvement
  • Act as a key finance contact for system development, enhancements, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support the implementation, configuration, testing, and optimisation of finance systems and related technologies.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiencies.
  • Investigate and resolve finance system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for finance processes, workflows, controls, and system procedures.
  • Create and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and management information outputs.
  • Deliver training and ongoing support to users across finance and wider business teams.
  • Assist with system integrations, data migration activities, and finance transformation projects.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of financial data within finance systems.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reporting capabilities and finance processes.
Financial Accounting & Reporting
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting commentary.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
  • Process journals, accruals, prepayments, and other month-end accounting entries.
  • Produce variance analysis and provide meaningful insights into business performance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Assist with cost analysis, operational reporting, and profitability assessments.
  • Support product costing and cost management initiatives where required.
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and year-end audit requirements.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors, providing supporting documentation and system-related information.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the finance function to ensure efficient delivery of departmental objectives.
  • Provide support and cover for other finance team members when required.

Skills & Experience

Essential
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience within a finance or accounting environment.
  • Strong understanding of management accounting, financial reporting, and accounting controls.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and finance-related technology platforms.
  • Proven ability to analyse, interpret, and present financial data effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and delivering results to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong systems aptitude.
Desirable
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or finance transformation projects.
  • Knowledge of reporting, business intelligence, or data visualisation tools.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or operationally focused business environment.
  • Exposure to process automation and finance systems integration projects.
