Job Description
Job Purpose
The Head Chef is responsible for the overall management of the kitchen, ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation, compliance with food safety standards in Ireland, effective team leadership, and efficient kitchen operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, design, and develop menus in line with the business concept and seasonal availability of ingredients
Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating to a high standard
Lead, train, and supervise kitchen staff, including Sous Chefs, Chef de Partie, and Commis Chefs
Ensure compliance with HACCP, food hygiene, and health & safety regulations as required in Ireland
Manage stock control, ordering, supplier relationships, and cost control to meet budget targets
Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation consistency
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for kitchen operations
Handle staff scheduling, rotas, and performance management
Minimise waste and implement cost-effective kitchen practices
Work closely with restaurant management to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction
Required Skills & ExperienceProven experience as a Head Chef in a high-volume or quality-focused kitchen
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent knowledge of food safety, HACCP, and kitchen compliance standards
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational, planning, and cost control skills
Creativity and passion for food and presentation
QualificationsProfessional culinary qualification
HACCP / Food Safety certification

Working Hours39 hours per week
Salary
36,000 – 46,000 euros annually.
