Sub-Editor (11-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

Salary: €40,000 – €42,000 + benefits

Hours: 9:00am – 5:30pm (37.5 hours per week)

About the Role

Our client, a well-established media company, is partnering with CPL to recruit an experienced Sub-Editor for an 11-month fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced production team working across both print and digital publications.

• Sub-edit and proofread copy for print and online publications, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency
• Rewrite and refine content where necessary in line with house style and editorial guidelines
• Design and layout pages using provided copy, images, and graphics to create visually engaging content
• Write compelling headlines, standfirsts, and captions
• Prepare and edit graphics for digital platforms
• Upload and manage content via content management systems (CMS)
• Work closely with editorial and production teams to meet strict deadlines
• Ensure all content is factually accurate and production-ready
• Support additional editorial and production projects as required

• Third-level degree in Journalism or a related field
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a production journalism or sub-editing role
• Strong experience in page layout, sub-editing, and design within a production environment
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Experience editing web content using CMS platforms
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of UX principles is an advantage
