Yard Operations Manager

As Yard Operations Manager, you’ll be at the heart of the day-to-day activities—managing staff, maintaining compliance, and ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials through the facility. You’ll have the autonomy to make impactful decisions while playing a key part in the company’s long-term success.

Responsibilities:
Staff & Team Management- Lead and coordinate picking line operatives, machine drivers, and weighbridge staff
- Manage staff rosters, provide training and mentorship, and drive performance
- Oversee day and night weighbridge operations
- Work with the maintenance team to keep plant operations running at peak performance
- Liaise with plant suppliers regarding SLAs, maintenance, and upgrades
- Improve throughput and reduce energy and operational costs
- Ensure timely, compliant movement of waste materials
- Maintain adherence to EPA licence and waste storage regulations
- Keep accurate records of skips, material quality, odour/dust control, and more
- Coordinate with EHS on inspections and neighbour relations
- Maintain high standards across staff facilities and the site overall
- Monitor and manage stock of bins, skips, and Roll-ons
- Implement traffic management plans in partnership with Transport and EHS teams
- Experience in waste management, depot operations, site management or similar industrial environments
- Strong leadership skills and a track record of managing teams
- Knowledge of plant machinery and materials handling
- Understanding of regulatory compliance (EPA, H&S, etc.)
- Heavy machinery experience is a plus
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving abilities
